Erectyle Disfunction – Naturopathic Treatment?

Not that I have anything against Viagra. On the contrary, after my husband and I realized Viagra was our only way to keep it up, I learned to love the little blue magic pill. But, I know that for some people Viagra is not the only solution, and for others (for example, those of you who take nitris), Viagra may not be even an option.

So, for those of you who can’t take Viagra, and for those who want to try something else for some time, I will now write about a few natural alternatives for Viagra (or Cialis, or Levitra). There are naturopathic ways to treat Erectyle Disfunction, and most of them work on enhancing the blood flow. Please always consult your doctor if you have any special medical issue.

Erectyle Disfunction – The Naturopathic Way

Food first. Check your diet, make sure you have a balanced diet and that you eat enough and not too much from each kind of food. Try to avoid sugar, dairy products, highly processed foods, fried foods, junk foods, alcohol, and caffeine. Even if it’s really hard to do, it is better to try this for 10 days, and see if the situation is better.
Some food supplements that are known to help against ED, are:

  • Asian ginseng (Panax ginseng), traditionally used to treat impotence
  • Damiana (Turnera diffusa), used to treat impotence and a variety of other sexual disorders; also acts as an aphrodisiac, a substance that increases sexual arousal
  • Epimedium, also known as Horny Goat’s Weed or Fairy Wings, is believed to be a natural aphrodisiac that acts chemically in a manner like that of the prescription drug sildenafil citrate (Viagara®)
  • Ginkgo (Ginkgo biloba), reputed to have the ability to increase the flow of blood through the arteries, the process by which an erection is produced
  • Muira puama (Ptychopetalum olacoides), recommended for increasing sexual desire and performance
  • Other supplements that may be helpful are vitamin C, vitamin E, selenium and zinc, inositol (tends to lower blood cholesterol levels), and bioflavonoids (compounds with anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties).

    Always try to make your body happy and exercise. Run on the beach, take a yoga class, go to the gym. Whatever you do,listen to your body. It tells you when it had enough.

No Viagra today!

I know many men (and women, actually) are looking for some alternatives to Viagra. I know it because Louis and me are seeking for some decent way to keep it up without the pill. Not for every day, Louis is impotent and we come to peace with this fact. But sometimes, just sometimes, we want to be able to just have sex without the pill.

Lots of things we’ve tried, most of them helped in a way but never got us (or better, Louis) to the point where we could simply forget about that little blue wonder pill. Sport, yoga, meditating, even breathing deep and slow during sex – this helps. I must admit slow sex is much better and feels more erotic than those quick table shags. Those are fine too, of course, but you know what i mean. When your man can breath, he performs better. Breathing controls blood flow, and blood flow controls the body organs.

So anyways, that’s not everything I had to say. We went on a vacation, Louis, me, and another couple of good friends. We rented two jeeps and went up the mountains, above the clouds. Well it wasn’t too high, but the air was thinner. And of course, Louis (and me, of course, he says this was my responsibility!) – we forgot the Viagra pack back home.

It was only a long weekend in a remote vacation village. They had yoga and meditation classes, they had a swimming pool (small but great), they had spa and body treatments. Louis said the only thing they didn’t have was good food, but I disagree. it was vegeterian, true, but it was indeed tasty. But Louis is the big chef so I kept my mouth shut. Sometimes your man needs to feel important, like he knows better. That’s fine with me. I don’t let it confuse me. I’m a true lady by now :)

My libido was there alright, vacation does me good I guess. Louis was slightly nervous at the beginning, yoga and breathing are not his natural grounds. But he kept his mind open, his lungs as well, and after I told him this might be the alternative to the pills left home, he was very motivated.

At night, it proved right. We had a fantastic (although pretty short) sex without the need of the pill. There is life after Viagra, and although once we came back we returned to our old habbits (a pill a day) – we were both very pleased being able to get it on without it.
