The Viagra Chronicles

Jay Leno, and I don’t watch him regularly, but he had a joke about Viagra and Cialis in connection to memory loss. That’s no news, that a possible side effect (although a rare one) is amnesia. I remember two years ago, when Louis started to use the Viagra pill and we were both worried about side effects, we kept reading the small prints and gather any piece of information we could get about that little blue pill.

Back then we went to the doctor to get a prescription, so we kept asking the doctor for anything. and whatever he said made us worry. So many possible side effects this little pill had, and some of them sounded really bad. We even thought one evening to forget about it all, to keep our lives as we knew them. But really, how could we give up sex? How could we give up our relationship? We had no option, and full of fears my husband started to use the famous blue pill, and made me a Viagra wife.

After a week we were relieved – no side effects, and good healthy sex. After two years, we are no longer afraid of impotence pills. Even birth control pills have side effects. Even Paracetamol has side effects. They must mention those risks, otherwise they will get sued. It’s business, that’s all.

I’m feeling the urge to tell you all this now because last night, when I was watching that Jay Leno show with his Viagra joke,  my sister was next to me and started to say it is very scary. And then I’ve realized people might actually be fearing the pill without having the right perspective. They might give up sex, and their relationships, and their self esteem, simply because they never tried it. And that would be just too bad.

My friend Eddie says every thing we do in life has its side effects. You ate too much? You’ll feel sick. You didn’t drink? Expect weakness and headaches. You took Viagra? Maybe you’ll lose your hearing.

Say again?

I just read an article about a research that showed a connection between men over 40 taking Viagra (or Levitra, Cialis, and other ED pills) and hearing-loss. It’s true that those men are anyway in a risk group for losing their hearing (Louis’ father for example, he’s like a wall sometimes) – but scienticts said this should be further examined and now they must put a warning in that small leaflet inside the pills’ box.

Louis is over 40, but so far his hearing is fine. Sure, he acts sometimes like he doesn’t hear me, but that’s got nothing to do with Viagra. Or does it?

Louis and I are a happy couple. Sure, we have our fights, sometimes he can get too angry too fast, and sometimes I don’t feel like giving him myself. Once in a while I take it too far with another man. But we’re all right. We still finish a pack of Viagra every two weeks or so..

While we were on vacation (which happened to be also vacation from Viagra) we met a very nice couple, Billy and Kate. When I first saw them, I was very jelous. Kate is a beautiful woman, even 14 months after giving birth to a lovely baby girl (they brought her with them). Billy took me immediately, he’s also a beautiful man, very open and friendly. Louis hated them, he thought they were too easy to be real.

After the first night we understood Billy had a small problem: after a few drinks he couldn’t watch his mouth anymore. He told me he and Kate haven’t had sex since their baby was born. He said Kate just wouldn’t, and he stopped trying. Kate was indeed clinging to her baby all the time, and I assumed it’s some kind of after-birth depression.

The next day I watched them. They had many small fights, arguments, mainly about their baby. Billy was cute but ignorant, and Kate was so inside herself that she didn’t even care anymore. Sure no sex was possible in such cold atmosphere!

The second night Kate talked to Louis. I’m not sure how, or why, but he told her he was using the Viagra pill to get it on with me. I was super mad when I heared he was telling her that, she was way too pretty to share my bedroom secrets with her, but because I also liked her I wanted her problem to get solved. I wanted her and Billy to have sex, I wanted her to want to have sex.

So Louis told her that there are also pills for women, and that she should perhaps talk to someone. She asked him if I was using any after my birth. Louis said I was. That was a lie of course, but it helped. She felt her problem had a solution. The next week (we kept in touch with them) they both went to therapy, and she already ordered some women’s Viagra (lovegra).

I hope they will get better and start having some sex. Their baby was so cute and I hope she will have happy parents around her. Satisfied, sexual parents.

I know many men (and women, actually) are looking for some alternatives to Viagra. I know it because Louis and me are seeking for some decent way to keep it up without the pill. Not for every day, Louis is impotent and we come to peace with this fact. But sometimes, just sometimes, we want to be able to just have sex without the pill.

Lots of things we’ve tried, most of them helped in a way but never got us (or better, Louis) to the point where we could simply forget about that little blue wonder pill. Sport, yoga, meditating, even breathing deep and slow during sex – this helps. I must admit slow sex is much better and feels more erotic than those quick table shags. Those are fine too, of course, but you know what i mean. When your man can breath, he performs better. Breathing controls blood flow, and blood flow controls the body organs.

So anyways, that’s not everything I had to say. We went on a vacation, Louis, me, and another couple of good friends. We rented two jeeps and went up the mountains, above the clouds. Well it wasn’t too high, but the air was thinner. And of course, Louis (and me, of course, he says this was my responsibility!) – we forgot the Viagra pack back home.

It was only a long weekend in a remote vacation village. They had yoga and meditation classes, they had a swimming pool (small but great), they had spa and body treatments. Louis said the only thing they didn’t have was good food, but I disagree. it was vegeterian, true, but it was indeed tasty. But Louis is the big chef so I kept my mouth shut. Sometimes your man needs to feel important, like he knows better. That’s fine with me. I don’t let it confuse me. I’m a true lady by now

My libido was there alright, vacation does me good I guess. Louis was slightly nervous at the beginning, yoga and breathing are not his natural grounds. But he kept his mind open, his lungs as well, and after I told him this might be the alternative to the pills left home, he was very motivated.

At night, it proved right. We had a fantastic (although pretty short) sex without the need of the pill. There is life after Viagra, and although once we came back we returned to our old habbits (a pill a day) – we were both very pleased being able to get it on without it.

Louis can really get furuis sometimes. I know it’s really hard for the people that work with him in the kitchen, but i also get a share of the trouble. Less and less, since having a baby made him more calm, in a way. But some things still make him become as red as a riped tomato. Couple of weeks ago Louis ordered a special ED pill, something we’ve never heard of before but looked good. It was also very expensive (about $90 for one pill) so we figured it should be a secret remedy made of really good stuff. Louis saw this pill on one site, then looked on the online pharmacy he normally uses, but they didn’t have that special pill.

So we ordered it from the first site, without making any test order before. Normally Louis is slower in those things, but this pill looked so good he got greedy. He ordered 3 pills online, and I won’t give here the site name but it’s located in a country north to the US. You know what I mean if you’re buying your Viagra online like us.

They said it should take up to 4 days to get the pills, we waited and waited but nothing arrived. Louis had to re-order his normal Viagra online in the meantime, on the website we always use and trust.

We sent emails after as week. After 10 days, we called their support. Louis got already a bit nervous. I was afraid of a scam, maybe they would use our card details the wrong way. After 12 days we got a note in the post. We had to collect the package and pay tax on it! Louis got so angry, he decided to call the whole thing off, and never collected tha package.

It was a lesson to learn. First, check the online pharmacy you’re going to order from. Second, if you use an online pharmacy that you find satisfing – don’t look further.

I was reading an article about Viagra for women, that soon they might develop. I know that women are already using sexuality pills such as, what was the name, I think Lovegra. They market it already as Viagra for Women. Louis read the same article later that day and made some jokes about me taking it later on, once it’s ready, in a few years. I do not have any problems with my sexual drive whatsoever, but I hear from older women (one of my bosses, she laughs about it sometimes, very bitter..) – some older women don’t want sex anymore. My boss for example, she’s in her late 40′s, having 2 kids, and she says she wishes sex would just vanish from the world. She says she doesn’t need it anymore but unfortunatly her husband does. I never asked her if he was taking Viagra!

She’s very open about it all but I don’t like taklking about it. In the begining I told people that Louis was taking the little blue pill, but he was very mad at me when I did, I remember that. So now I keep my mouth shut, most of the time, and if I do talk about it with someone, I will never mention this to Louis. Do you think my boss tells her husband what she shares with us in the kitchen? I’m not so sure. I wonder how will I talk to Louis if I feel one day like her, like I don’t want to have sex anymore, like it’s just a burden. I had a lack of passion after the birth, but it all changed back after a few months. My boss tells me I’m young. She tells me those private stories, sharring everything, and then if I say something like: ‘maybe you’ll gain your sexual drive back, it happened to me’, and she goes: ‘oh, you’re sweet but you’re young’, and leaves, like all she wanted was just talking and never listening or geting advice or anything.

Maybe she’s embarrased, maybe she’s a hard person, and maybe her husband doesn’t listen to her. They say sexuality takes it all: if you’re having other problems in the relationship, it all goes to the sex. I believe it’s true. Maybe if Louis and I could really talk open about it all, then in a few years I won’t need the Viagra for Women. Maybe.

Funny story, I thought at first. I almost laughed. But it wasn’t appropriate. My husband was in tears, and soon the meaning of it all became clearer, sadder. It’s Louis’ father.

The man just reached 80, he’s old. But I must say he doesn’t seem old at all. He’s in good mood, he’s open and friendly, never bitching about health or anything. I wrote about him before, about when we found out he was using Cialis. Anyways, he had a birthday party, Louis’ sister organised it in her house. They have a great big house, with a small swimming pool. Weather was good. It was a celebration. A special guest was Miriam, a woman wee never met before but was the reason for the Cialis. Miriam was nice as well, polite and even shy. We all liked her, and Louis’ father was so happy.

I actually talked to Miriam at the party, I helped her finding the rest rooms in the big strange house. She told me new places are getting too scary for her these days, she felt old. She said she never got married, she lived by herself all her life. That was a thing that made me love her more. She was a cool old woman. And she had no children. I felt responsible for her, I don’t know why.

Anyway, I showed her the toilets and told her I will wait outside. She said there’s no need for that, and that I should return to the party. They were opening the presents.

I went back, Louis and I got him a set of funny pajamas. He opens the box and wears one of the pajamas and all the guests are crying from laughter, when all of a sudden he turns around and answers his cell phone that was ringing. It was vibrating on the table and fell on the grass, and Louis’ father banded under the table and answered. A few seconds later, we’re all still laughing while he’s under the table. So Louis’ sister go check what’s he doing down there, when all of a sudden she starts screaming.

Father was lying there, holding his chest, his cell phone in one hand. He told her to call an ambulance.

Hours later we heard the whole story. It was in the hospital halls, first as a rumor and than as a solid, funny sad fact. Miriam was sexting him from the toilets. He couldn’t take it, with all the party in the background. It wasn’t a heart attack, but it was something that put him in the hospital, and then they told him to watch it also with the Cialis.

I was laughing, but it is pretty sad. Now Miriam is really part of the family, we all know her and like her, and we know she didn’t mean bad. But their sex life won’t be the same from now on.

It was on the news recently, Pfizer is suing the largest generic drugs company Teva for planning to  market its own version of generic Viagra. Now, of course that business-wise this is understood. But why should we understand such an act, really? Pfizer was our angel, our savor, our ray of light in the darkest day, when it came out with Viagra. For years it was the only ED drug on the market. For years there were no legal generic Viagra pills. But hey, drugs are supposed to keep the man that suffers above all, no?

I know it sounds naive, but isn’t it super-disgusting from a company that already made billions from men that couldn’t have sex because of dis-functioning blood stream (direct or indirect), to just want to have the whole cake to itself? What about those who cannot have sex AND also don’t have the money to buy Viagra by Pfizer? It is much more expensive (sometimes 5 times more expensive!) than the generic drug.

Shouldn’t sex be a basic right? Why is Pfizer trying to fuck with  the wrong men?

My guess, Pfizer will lose against Teva. If not now, then in 3, 5, 7 years. By then the market will be full with other drugs and their generic versions (Cialis, Levitra, etc). Not to mention, new solutions that might come up. Or wait..Pfizer maybe knows something..perhaps there is already a new thing coming up, a new drug for the impotents, so Pfizer knows Viagra days are soon to be over!

Until this day will come, Louis and myself will continue to enjoy our generic Viagra. It does the same job, and it’s cheaper. Drugs are, after all, only chemistry.

It seems that healthy blood circulation is the key for good life. And since impotence pills (ED pills) are improving blood circulation, they have some useful side effects. I have already mentioned in my last post that Viagra might help women get pregnant (and now that I think about it, i need to send the link to a friend of mine!). I read other things too, how Viagra helps against Jet Lag, and now I read that Cialis (or other ED pills, such as Viagra and Levitra) can help people with muscle dystrophy.

It really got me thinking, should people with no impotence problems should really use impotence pills to fix other problems they might have? After all, those ED pills still have some bad side effects of their own, and what if using them will fix one problem – but will cause a new one?

How can you trust Viagra? Or, for that matter, any medicament? How can you trust science?

I don’t have the answers, I’m just a young worried Viagra Wife…I’m writing here to raise those questions, not to answer them. For me, the answer is common sense. When I feel (or when my husband feels) it’s better not to use the pill for a week, we take a break. I must say it only happened once, after more than a year we’ve been using the pill. Louis never had any bad side effect happening to him. For us, Viagra (and also Cialis, he used it for some time) is a perfectly safe medicament.

But still, it’s a medicament.

I just thought we all should keep that in mind.

It seems like doctors have no idea what they are doing, or what kind of medicaments they’re creating. It appears now that Viagra has at least one more important use, and not for the men. I couldn’t believe it’s true, but this website is quite reliable as far as I know and this piece of news reached other sites too.

Anyway, it’s not science fiction, only science. And science, as you know, is all about trial and error. This time it was trial and success, and the explanation is about the blood stream in the body.

Viagra Alternatives? try Chinese medicine. Louis wants to but hasn’t yet, but i know needles can do a lot, especially when it’s about blood and the way it circles your body. I’m sure about it cos when (a few years back, before I got pregnant) I had a heavy menstruation, i went to an Acupuncturist and after one treatment it was very different.
